Hi all,

I'm having some trouble trying to update a .pt domain nameserver to inmotionhosting.com.

I updated the configuration to use both the ns referred at the help pages:
* ns.inmotionhosting.com
* ns2.inmotionhosting.com

But it keeps failing.

After I got in touch with the providers they told be this was generating an error:

DnsException: Error #4;The server is not autoritary for the domain;

They say that to use a .pt domain, DNS.PT demands that the server has installed and configured a primary nameserver and at least a secondary on with different IP.

Can someone give me some advice on this? I believe inmotion already has the two server. I don't understand where this errors are coming from...

Thanks in advance

I have a very similar problem with this https://www.dns.pt/en/tools/technical-evaluator/ for the domain marianarodriguesmentoring.pt where the nameservers should be inmotionhosting's ns1.servconfig.com and ns2.servconfig.com, which I have configured on domain registrars panel. Other domain names .pt I use are working fine with the exact same setup. Just this one is stuck and it pops up with ns1.antonioprates.com, which I'm not using anywhere. So I don't get it, why this isn't working for this one. See the log from the DNS.PT tool below:

Hello,

Thank you for your question on nameservers and their IPs. Yes. InMotion does indeed have two different nameservers and with two IPs. These should work. They work with most other registrars. When the occasional one does pop up with issues such as the one you are describing, they seem to fix it on the registrar end. You may want to check back with them to ensure they are receiving our correct name server information.

Kindest Regards,
Scott M

Hi,

First. Thank you for the answer.

They said that I should test the nameservers in this website:
https://www.dns.pt/en/tools/technical-evaluator/

When I test any pt server with ns.inmotionhosting.com or ns2.inmotionhosting.com I get an error:

Errors occured while performing your evaluation! Close

Evaluation Result: Invalid technical information
Message: DnsException: Error #4;
The server is not autoritary for the domain;

They say the problem is that the namserver is not Authority.

Can you help?

Hello jpmarques,

I checked the server that your account is tied to and I do not see that the domain teste.pt is added to any cPanel on the server. Even if you point the domain to our nameservers it has to be added to the cPanel in order for it to update within our nameserver.
