Why are the logs and stats in my cPanel not updating?

In C-Panel, none of the log/analytics programs have updated since January 6, 2012?

Hi saver,

<strong>Logs and Analytic Features are secondary processes</strong>
The logs and analytic features within your cPanel are considered "secondary" processes as they are not actually needed for your website to be online. Because of this, the servers have a setting in place that will prevent these logs from running when the server is running heavy / your website is getting a lot of traffic.

<strong>Why don't the stats always run?</strong>
If you have a very busy website, it can take quite a bit of server Memory and CPU time to process all of your logs and generate all sorts of statistical data. When the server is busy processing these thousands and thousands (maybe millions in some cases) of lines in the logs, your server can reach a point where this heavy load caused by running stats can actually affect your website's performance. This is because your server is so busy running stats, it doesn't have the time to handle all website requests, and your website may appear down.

Because the stats programs are not vital, if your server hits a certain set server load when processing them, the stat processing will stop. This is in an effort from keeping the processing of logs from overloading your server and taking down your website.

I'm not sure if this is the case with your account, but this issue does arise from time to time.

<strong>VPS and Dedicated Hosting Customers</strong>
If you are on a VPS or Dedicated Server, we suggested submitting an email to and requesting that our System Administration team review your server's resource usage. In your email, please be sure to authorize your request by including either your current AMP password or the last 4 digits of the current credit card on file. After doing this, they should be able to gather a bit more information on why your stats are not running.

<strong>Shared Hosting</strong>
If your account is on a shared server, you can <a href='' target='_blank'>contact our Support Department</a> and report the issue. Our Support Team should be able to run the stats for your account, which should update usually within an hour.

<strong>Other ways to check your website statistics</strong>
While Awstats in your cPanel can give you quite a bit of information about your website visitors, Google Analytics can give you much more information about your traffic, much faster, and is more of an industry standard when compared to Awstats.
