I want to start a new account in WHM not right under the main (not add-on or sub), that will use a new account's public_html, and will work with the WHM "create a new account" page successfully. I want to use a temp url for testing before pointing name servers, and it of course does not allow me to use the domain already in use on another host. If I use the temp url under my main account in AMP I believe it will use home/mainaccount/public_html. Help please.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you. When you create a new account within WHM and create a username, you will use this for the temp url. Let's say your on vps9111 and you create a new account with the username newwebsite. Then your temp url for that account would be: vps9111.inmotionhosting.com/~newwebsite.

I hope this helps! If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us.

Thanks!

Hello Tim,
Can you also inform us what the FTP Host will be for this new account?

The <a href="http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/general-server-setup/what-is-my-hostname">hostname</a> will be the same as the server host. in the previous example its vps9111.inmotionhosting.com. You can also use the domain name as the host as long it is <a href="http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/domain-names/dns-nameserver-changes/updating-your-domains-nameservershttp://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/domain-names/dns-nameserver-changes/updating-your-domains-nameservers">pointing</a> to your server with us.

Thank you for this Tim, I appreciate it. However we have a reseller account and will be migrating our accounts over one by one. I have the server information.... would that intern replace the VPS9111? I tried changing that to our server but that did not work? I will need to upload a bunch of large files to our client FTP servers and need to have the FTP connection information before we do any DNS changes.... can you help?

annexgrfx, you will need to use the server hostname for your new reseller account. For a reseller server, this typically looks like res###.servconfig.com
