I can't seem to remove password protection from a directory after using this method to add it: http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/wordpress/prevent-unauthorized-wp-admin-wp-login-php-attempts

Hello NorthLiberty,

The .htaccess in the public_html was the one that was forcing the password validation when trying to access the wp-admin folder area. The last 4 lines above the </FilesMatch> line simply needed to be commented out. I have done that for you, but also saved the existing .htaccess file as it was as .htaccess.bak for your convenience.

The site now allows you to access the wp-admin area without the password popup box.

Best Regards,
Scott M
