Unless you are sending out hundreds of emails, it\u2019s best to inject some personality into your communication.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"request-for-information\">Requests For Information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p> Much of the information you will need for day-to-day business will be available on a search engine or website.  However, there are some kinds of information that you must request personally.  Whether you are requesting information about something or asking to receive something, it\u2019s best to be clear and concise and state your issue plainly: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre id=\"org7eaf774\" class=\"wp-block-preformatted example\">Dear [NAME or TITLE]\n\n[REASON FOR CONTACT]\n\nMay I ask a favor of you?  I would like to request more\ninformation about [SPECIFIC INFORMATION REQUESTED]. If you can provide\nthis information within [TIME FRAME] it would be of tremendous use\nto me.\n\nYour prompt reply is most appreciated.\n\nSincerely,\n[YOUR NAME]\n<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>\nThe above example provides an initial reason for contact.  For example, \u201cI saw your ad in Business Magazine, and it triggered my curiosity.\u201d  The reason for contact need not be an entire paragraph, a sentence or two will be sufficient.  Remember, it\u2019s best to be concise.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nNext, you ask politely if the recipient may do this favor for you.  In some circumstances, it may not be necessary to ask a favor; it might be a normal part of the recipient\u2019s job to provide information.  However, it\u2019s always polite to consider the recipient\u2019s time and schedule.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nOnce you have specified the specific information you are seeking, feel free to give the recipient a time frame in which the information will be of best use to you.  Again, be reasonable and considerate of the recipient\u2019s schedule but be specific about when this information is needed.  You don\u2019t want the recipient to think they have forever to get back to you.  Some sense of timing is necessary to get work done.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nFinally, let the recipient know their reply is appreciated.  This sets the expectation that you will receive something back promptly and reminds the recipient that you are waiting on them.
