It's easy to forget passwords so if you have forgotten your FTP password, you can easily reset it. How you reset your password depends on whether you are using your cPanel username for FTP or if you are using a separate FTP account. If you are using your cPanel username for FTP purposes you can reset your cPanel password following the steps in our article Resetting your cPanel password in AMP. 

If you need to reset the password for an FTP account you created (that is not the cPanel username) this can be done through the FTP account section of cPanel.

1. Log into cPanel.
2. Select "FTP Accounts" under the Files section of cPanel.

3. Select "Change Password" in the Actions column beside the FTP account that needs a password reset.

4. Type in your new password and click "Change Password".

If you previously saved your FTP password in a FTP client or web publishing software, remmeber to update those settings with the new password as well.
