This article will guide you on how to edit an order within the PrestaShop 1.5 back office. After creating an order in the admin dashboard, there may be some changes you need to make. This can be to shipping, addresses, even the product itself. This can be done via the back office in PrestaShop 1.5. Follow the steps below to learn how to edit your order.

Modifying a manual order in PrestaShop 1.5

  1. Log into your PrestaShop 1.5 admin dashboard.
  2. Using the top menu bar, hover over the Orders tab and click on the Order option.

  3. You will now be at the Orders list which shows all current orders. Locate the order you want to edit and click on the View button on the far right side of the row. It is the one that looks like a paper with a magnifying glass.

  4. Now you are on the actual order editing screen. There are several sections to consider. Each one has either an Edit button that looks like a pencil and paper, or a Change button. Below is a list of the different sections that can be changed.
    - Shipping
    - Shipping Address
    - Invoice Address
    - Products
    - Messages

    Changes are automatically saved to the order as you edit so there is no save button to click.

Sorry to say but we can't edit the shipping I mean shipping method.

Yes unfortunately you can not modify the shipping method of an order that has already been placed from the Orders page in PrestaShop.

It looks like if you really wanted to modify things, you would possibly be able to go to the ps_order_carrier table in your PrestaShop database, and then modify the id_carrier row of the particular order you needed to change the shipping carrier for.

I'm not sure if that would mess up anything else in your database, it doesn't seem like it would, but this functionality to alter shipping methods after an order has been placed isn't built in by default. I'd recommend backing up your database in cPanel prior to making any manual changes to the database like this.

Hi,

Thanks for your article.I would like to change a specific order. However, I don't have a "add product" button on the order page. Status of this order was shipped. Customer is returning the product and wants another product in return. I changed the status of the order into "awaiting bankwire payment", but still no "add product" button.Another (new) order, which has the status "awaiting bankwire payment" has the "add product" button.How can I go around this ?

Was the order previously cancelled? Be sure that after changing the status, that the order is completely saved.

Another option could also be to completely cancel this order and re-create a new order with the correct product as well.

Hi,

Thanks. The order was not previously cancelled. There is no option to save an order in my screen. As I change the status I click on "Add" and the status is changed permanently.I understand I can cancel an order completely. But there should be a easy way to change the order like your company states in this article ?

You should be able to see the Add Product button without any issues so it seems as something specific is defined within this specific order that is causing the issue. Could you provide me with the exact details and options defined for that order?

Could you also provide me with the specific version of PrestaShop that you are running?

What does it mean? if an employee select a wrong shipping, he/she must create a new order!

Hello Saeed,

Yes, in the back office, you are unable to edit the shipping carrier for the order. That is why it is important that the carriers listed for the order are only carriers that can deliver the products. You will want to ensure that all carriers deliver to the correct zones.
