After creating your new customer group, you may want to add discouts for different groups. For example, you may want to give new group for Students a 10% discount. This can be doneby editing the group from the back office interface. Create a group discount in PrestaAhop 1.5 by following these steps.

To add a group discount in PrestaShop 1.5:

  1. Log into your PrestaShop 1.5 admin dashboard.
  2. Use the top menu bar and hover over the Customers tab, then click on the Groups option from the popup menu.
    customer-tab-group
  3. You are now on the Customers : Groups screen. Locate the row for the group you want to edit and click on the Edit icon (the one that looks like a paper and pencil) on the
    right side of that row.
    customer-group-edit
  4. On the Customers : Edit roup page, find the Discount field. Enter the percentage amount of the discount you wish to give the group.
    customer-group-discount
  5. Once completed, click on the Save button to save the new address.

That is how you add a group discount in your PrestaShop 1.5 back office.

I created a group Student and provide 10% discount. Then I modified the user account and set the group access to Student and default customer group to Student. However, discount is not working when I logged in with that user and add something to cart.

Please help!

For individuals to receive the discount, be sure that the specific user that is logged in, is added to that group. Discounts will be seen directly from the checkout page, or depending on your theme, will be seen on the front end as well.

Yeah the individuals are added in the group and logged in. But I am not able to see the discounts.

I added a cart rule to check, and it appears just above the Tax block, but group discount is not appearing anywhere else.

I checked on default theme as well, but nothing is appearing. I am using Prestashop 1.5.6

Within the the Customers section of your Prestashop admin, be sure that the customer is also set to be within the default group that defines the discount. At the bottom of this customer's details page within the Prestashop admin, you will see a dropdown box that allows you to select this customer class.

Yeah, already did. I followed the complete instructions at http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS15/Managing+Customers

I have replicated the exact steps within this article on a fresh PrestaShop installation and the steps work perfectly, as long as the Default Customer Group dropdown for the user is set for the group which receives the discount. Be sure that the steps within this article are followed exactly as they are stated, as well as you have selected the correct default customer group for that user.

Ok, really sorry. There was a misunderstanding. The discount is applied, however there was not message. i.e. if I am logged in as discounted group member, I could see the price as normal e.g. the actual price in Store is 600, but its appearing 540 (after applying 10% discount). However, as a user experience I am thinking that item actual price is 540. If there could be a separate message like appear in cart rules, that would make more sense.

There is not a message, but there may be a way that you could custom code it into PrestaShop to allow it to show the price before the discount.
