Magento 1.6 allows you to create customer groups. At any time you need to remove or delete a customer group it can be easily done. Customer groups are deleted in the Magento 1.6 Admin Backend.

  1. Log into your Magento Admin Backend
  2. Go to Customers ->> Customer Group
  3. magento_cust_group_1

  4. Click on the customer group you want to delete
  5. magento_delete_group_1

  6. Click "Delete Customer Group"
  7. magento_delete_group_2

  8. Click "OK"

Hi There,

I have managed to delete the default NOT LOGGED IN customer group. Any idea how I can re install this please???

Hello Kate,

Do you have a backup of your Magento database? I'm assuming you'd have to restore the specific <span style="color: red;">NOT LOGGED IN</span> customer group from there.

How were you able to delete the default group? When reading the Magento documentation for <a href="http://www.magentocommerce.com/wiki/welcome_to_the_magento_user_s_guide/chapter_6#creating_customer_groups" target="_blank">creating a user group</a> it specifically states:

<em>By default, Magento comes with two Customer Groups: NOT LOGGED IN and General... <span style="color: red;">Neither of these Customer Groups can be deleted, and the Group Name for NOT LOGGED IN cannot be edited.</span></em>
