By default, Joomla 3.0 will dispaly under articles Prev and Next navigational buttons. This is helpful for your readers if they are reading a set of related articles and want an easy way to navigate to the next article.

If you want to hide these navigation buttons, you can do so using the Show Navigation setting in Joomla 3.0. Joomla gives the following description for this setting:

show-navigation

Show Navigation
If set to Show, shows a navigation link (Next, Previous) between articles.

You can see in the screenshot to the right the navigational buttons that we are referring to.

To hide navigational buttons in Joomla 3.0:

  1. Log into your Joomla 3.0 admin dashboard
  2. In the top menu, click Content and then click Article Manager
  3. In the list of articles on the page, click the article title that you want to toggle the Show Navigation setting for
  4. You will see several tabs above the article, click the Article Options tab
  5. Find the setting labeled Show Navigation. Next to it, click either Use Global, Hide, or Show. Finally, click the Save button in the top left of the page.

    Please note!
In our testing this setting did not appear to work as it should. We submitted a bug ticket to the Joomla! team in regard.

Good to see that i'm not crazy....

This is not working for me as well - as it should. I'm just wondering if they didn't try to introduce some priority on General Articles / Particular Article.

Thanks anyway

Best way to do this:

If want them off all pages: System>Global Configuration>Articles - Hide Navigation

If only on one page and you have already linked with a menu: Menus>Main Menu>(select your article)>options - Hide Navigation.

sorry this is no bug in Joomla3 : )

Bruce, your recipe works, but if I understand you correctly, you are saying that it is not a bug that the setting under content > article manager has no effect. What then is the purpose of this latter option?

I agree. However I am accessing a menu directly as a return path after payment. not only does navigation show again but it shows a massive heading of the article category at the top. please help.
