To find out if your Joomla 2.5 server is running suPHP:

1. Log into your Joomla 2.5 admin
2. In the top Joomla menu, hover over Site and then click System Information
3. Ensure that you are on the PHP Information tab by clicking PHP Information
4. In the list of PHP settings shown, find the Server API:
   
   
   If your Server API is set to CGI, then you're Joomla 2.5 server is running suPHP.
