In this guide we will walk you through the purchase (in AMP) and activation (in cPanel) of a McAfee Email Protection Pack. Here is a link to a helpful article that explains what McAfee Email protection is, and what it does

How to Purchase McAfee Email Protection from AMP:

Before the McAfee Email Protection can be used, it must be purchased. The steps are outlined below.
  1. Login to the Account Management Panel (AMP).
  2. On the left, click the Other option under Additional Services.
  3. Click the drop-down box labeled "Select Domain (# slots)...," and choose the domain you want to protect from the list. Then click the Protect Domain button.

  5. Under the Additional Services heading, click the Protection Pack you want to purchase. Available options are:

    • Add McAfee 1 Email Protection Pack
    • Add McAfee 5 Email Protection Pack
    • Add McAfee 10 Email Protection Pack

In my tests, I am selecting Add McAfee 5 Email Protection Pack.

  6. In the field to the right of "McAfee Contact Email Address," enter an email address that is not hosted with us, such as a Yahoo, Google Mail, or Hotmail, which are all free. Then choose your payment method, agree to the terms of service, then click the Submit button.

You will then see a notification stating "Your order has been completed. Please read through our McAfee Email Protection Quick Start Guide to get up and running. You can always find the link on your Account & Billing Detail page if you forget to bookmark."

Activating the McAfee Email protection:

After you have purchased McAfee Email Protection, it must be turned on in the cPanel. Below is a walk-through.
  1. Login to your cPanel.
  2. Click the McAfee Email Protection button in the Mail Section.
    Selecting McAfee in cPanel
  3. Click the drop-down box labeled "Select Domain (# slots)...," and choose the domain you want to protect from the list. Then click the Protect Domain button.

This may take several minutes to complete.

Hello Ian,

I just spoke with the development team and it looks like the McAfee Email Protection hasn't been added to our new AMP yet.

For the time being please submit a ticket, call, or chat with us and we'd be glad to get this protection added to your account.

Hello Cally,

The domain protection subscription should be quick. If you are having issues with it, there may be something specific in your account causing a delay. You will want to contact our Live Support team to take a look at your specific account.

We recently purchased "McAfee 5 Email Protection PACK", but when I select the domain under Protect Domain (McAfee Email Protection Manager), this gives an error: "Not enough McAfee Email Protection slots available".

The domain has an existing 33 emails and I would like to select only 5 of them, is this possible within deleting the other email addresses.

Please advise.

Hello Jay,

Thanks for the question. In spite of what the number says in the bar, you should be able to click on Protect Domain after you select your domain, then proceed from there. Check out the documentation above and it should take you through the process. If you continue to have problems with the activation, please provide us more information on where you stopped (after trying our suggestion), or call into our live support team available 24/7 (contact information is at the bottom of the page).

I already tried it, I only need to protect 5 email address and the domain has an existing 33 emails. This is the error: "Not Enough McAfee protection slots Available".

It is possible without deleting the other emails? I just want to protect only 5 of them.

Hello Jay,

Unfortunately with the McAfee feature, it sets the limit to the number of emails that can be on an account. If you choose the 5 address plan, then that is the maximum amount of email addresses you could have on the account.

Thanks for the info, is it possible to temporarily delete the other emails so I can make room and protect only 5 of the emails and once activated can I add those deleted emails to the same account?

Please advise.

Hello Jay,

The McAfee will lock the limit at 5, so if you try to add anymore after that it will not allow it.

I just purchased McAfee protection and enabled it. Now can you tell me where all of the "spam" emails go? Concerned a valid email may go into spam.

Thank you,

Hello David,

It is my understanding the emails that are flagged as spam are placed in a Quarantine list. From here you can decide their fate.

I just added McAfee Email protection and when I click on the McEmail Protection Manager I get this error message. Error: Can't call method "find_records" on an undefined value at /opt/mcafee/bin/../lib/McAfee/ line 99.

Hello Brenda,

We are not seeing that error across other accounts. Yours may be account specific. In that case you will want to contact Live Support so they can check your specific account.

This is quite an inconvience from McAfee about forcing the users to upgrade their package when they want to add new emails on their account.

Please reconsider this policy or else we will have to cancel our subscription as it is not a viable solution for most ppl.

Hello S,

Unfortunately the system works that you purchase protection for all of the email addresses you have on one domain. You are not allowed to protect only a few of those email accounts as Mcafee would not allow that. You can always opt out of using Mcafee email protection completely.

Best Regards,
TJ Edens
