Before you can use email, you must create the email account in cPanel.

How to Create an Email Account

  1. Log into cPanel
  2. Once logged into cpanel, click on the "Email Accounts" located in the Mail section of cPanel:
  3. That will open a screen so you can create a new email address. You should see the below screenshot.

Fill in the fields, below is a description of what to enter:
Email: This is the name of the account. This will be before the @ symbol in the email address.
Password: This is the password you assign to the email account.
    Password (again): Re-type the password
Mailbox Quota: Select the size of the mailbox you want to create.

After entering your information in the fields, click the button labeled "Create Account"
  4. Once the account has been created, you will see it listed in the Email Accounts section.

I just purchased a new domain in order to create new email addresses. I cannot find the domain on the pull down menu in CPanel where I create email addresses. What's going on?

Hello Karen,

Have you added the domain as an addon or parked domain within your cPanel? You have to do this no matter where you bought the domain from.

You wouldn't "change" the email account. You would create a new email address and delete the old one after forwarding your emails to it. You could set up a forwarder as well. To ensure anyone that emails the old address, is forwarded to your new one.

Hello, I wanted to know the catchall email ID. As yet I dont have a catchall address. The help says there is a default email ID. Which would that be? Or should I create a new ID by default@domain.com?

By design, the catch-all is set to :fail: in order to prevent spammers from sending large amounts of unwanted mail to you. Our newer servers no longer allow you to set your own default address to prevent spam overflow, so we recommend using forwarders or filters to route your mail instead. Taken from our article on Default / Catch-All Address.

Some of our email ID's are approaching quota limits (250MB).  Can I select "Unlimited" quota for selected email ID's without additional charges?

Thanks...Bill

Hello Pia,

Sorry for the problem with the email account. The problem is most likely related to the MAIL folder that belongs under your HOME folder. If it has been deleted, then you will not be able to create an email account. You can restore a folder called "mail" under the HOME folder using cPanel File manager, but if you're missing more than that, then you should contact technical support to restore the base folders that are part of every account.

If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Regards,
Arnel C.
