If you've previously installed a program using Fantastico, you can import this program into Softaculous so that you can use the program management features available within Softaculous. This will make it easier to backup, restore, and update your software, which are all very important aspects of website maintenance.

In our testing, we used Fantastico to install WordPress as http://domain.com/bradm-wp-fantastico/. In this tutorial, we will import this WordPress installation into Softaculous.

Please note!
When you import a program into Softaculous, the software's files will not be moved or changed. Importing a program is simply a way to help Softaculous find your installation so that you can use the professional tools it provides to help manage your website more effeciently.

To import a program into Softaculous:

  1. Log into your cPanel
  2. Click the Softaculous icon under the Software/Services section
  3. In the top menu, click the Sync With Installers icon
  4. You will then see a list of programs that Softaculous will be able to import. As you can see in the screenshot below, it found the installation of WordPress that we installed with Fantastico.

Check the box next to each of the programs you want to import, then click the the Sync/Import button. When the import was successful, you will see the following message:

Congratulations, the software was synced/imported successfully.

When you visit your Softaculous Installations Overview page (the Applications Installs button at the top of the page), you will see the new program you imported over.
