Adding an Add-on Domain in cPanel
Click here to watch a video tutorial
In this tutorial:
Your account with InMotion Hosting may include the ability to host multiple websites depending on your hosting package. If you are unfamiliar with the package you are on you can determine how many add-on domains you can have in cPanel.
Once you are logged into cPanel, on the left hand stats pane, expand it out. If the stats are not expanded, the cPanel should look like the snapshot to the right. If you do not see the "Expand Stats" then your stats are expanded already.
Here you can find out how many add-on domains you currently have as well as the total number of add-on domains you can have. You can get more about your server from the cPanel stats like PHP version, MySQL version, Subdomains, MySQL databases used and more.
Add an Addon Domain from cPanel
- Once you are logged into your cPanel account, select "Addon Domain" under the "Domains" section:
- Next, you will need to fill out the details of the add-on domain:
New Domain Name:
Enter the domain name you are adding to your cPanel.
Subdomain / Ftp Username:
When adding a new domain to your account, cPanel automatically configures an additional FTP user for this domain. While most users doesn't need or use this account, cPanel requires that you enter an ftp username to continue.
The document root is the directory where the files for this website will be located. The default directory for new domains is public_html/NewDomain
The password you enter here is the FTP password for the FTP user mentioned above. As previously stated, most users don't use this new FTP account, but cPanel requires that you enter a password here.
Enter the above password again to ensure you are typing it correctly.
- Once you are finished filling in the details, select the "Add Domain" button.
Congratulations! You have successfully set up your first add-on domain.
Removing an Add-on Domain from cPanel
Removing an add-on domain is relatively simple and you can do so within cPanel itself.
- Simply click on the "Add on Domains" icon within cPanel.
- Now, scroll down and find the list of addon domains.
- Next to the addon domain you want to select "remove" and you can remove the add-on domain.
Please keep in mind, removing the add-on domain from within cPanel does not affect the domain name registration. If you would like to remove the domain name from your account permanently you can do so in AMP.

Although the screenshots may appear a bit small, they are intended for you to click on. When clicked, they will grow to their normal size, making them very easy to read.

where do I activate addon doamins for my account?
Hint: This feature must be enabled for your account before you can use it. Addon domains will not function unless the domain name is registered with a valid registrar and configured to point to the correct DNS servers.

You have the ability to add an addon domain from within your cPanel without having to enable any additional settings. You do need to have the domain registered with a registrar and pointed to our name servers so that it will function from our servers when added to the cPanel.

I have two accounts whit InMotion, i’d like to move one Addon domain from the first account to the second one.
I removed de Addon domain from the first account and them Add the Addon domain in the second account.
But, when i log in the first account, in the AMP / DOMAINS / MANAGE DOMAINS the domain yet appears in it. I don’t want the domain to be viewed in the first account. What can i do?
Thanks in advance

Moving the domain from one cPanel to another is definitely the way to switch the domain from one hosting account to another. This does not have any effect on the AMP setup however. If you want to have it moved from one AMP to another, the best way is to contact our Live Support team so they can move the bill item from the current AMP to the other for you. Again, it will not have any effect on how the domain performs, so contact them at your earliest convenience.
