Editing code on your web site is an inevitable event. If you have minor changes to make on your web site that can be done simply, you can use the code editor in the cPanel File Manager to change the code. This is called "Editing on the fly", which is changing the files of the source website while its live. Let's go to cPanel File manager and see how this editor works.

Important! Editing the code in a file on the server can break your website. Because the file is being used by the live website, we always recommend editing a backup copy of your site instead of the files on the server. Make a backup copy of the file before editing it by saving the file as a different name.

When you make a copy of the file to edit by saving it under a different name then how do you implement the change? Do you have to delete the orginal file?

If you save the file under a different name, it will create a second copy of the file. If you want to replace the original with that file, you would need to remove the original and rename the copy.
