Domain registrations are $14.99, and this fee registers a domain name for one full year. The domain TLD (top level domain) extensions we can register here at InMotion Hosting are listed here:

Available Domain Extensions.com.net.org.us.biz.info

What about other domain extensions?

There are many other domain extensions that are available as well. There are extensions specific to every country as well as other more restrictive extensions such as .edu. Very soon, ICANN will be releasing around 700 other extensions for sale as well. If you need a domain that has an extension different from the ones we offer, your best bet is to visit Google and do a search for a registrar of that type. For example, if I want a .ca domain, I would do a search for "register .ca domain".

Domain Privacy

Did you know that whenever a domain name is registered, The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) requires your personal information be published in the WHOIS database? This includes your mailing address, phone number and email address!

With Domain Privacy Protection from InMotion Hosting we will make our information available to the public instead of yours. This can help protect you from potential spammers, telemarketers and even identity thieves. This would cost only an additional $9.99 annually! Otherwise we would have to use the billing information we currently have on file for your account. This is usually the name and address of the person who subscribed for the hosting account initially.

Your name will remain as the registrant contact so that you retain complete ownership of the domain. To register a new domain you will first need to log into AMP. If you need more information about logging into AMP.

Domain Privacy Protection is available with all hosting accounts, including shared hosting, vps hosting, and our dedicated servers.

How to Register a New Domain Name

  • Login to AMP
  • Click the Register Domain button in the Manage My Account section.

You will then be on the Order Services page; below is detailed description.

    • Enter a Domain Name: Here you will put the domain you want to register. Once you type in a domain, click on "Check availability" to see if the domain's available. You will need to register a different domain if the one you chose isn't available.

    • Domain Registration: Choose the number of years you want to register the domain

    • Add Domain Privacy: For each new domain you register you can also purchase Domain Privacy. Please read this article for more information on Domain Privacy.

    • Billing Information: If you want to use your billing information already on file, select it from the drop down. To pay using a different method, select Add New and enter the new billing details.
Note that your billing information must be up to date or you may receive an error to the effect of "You do not have current billing information". This will then need to be corrected in order to complete domain registration.

    • Payment Method: Here you can choose / add a new payment method in amp, the credit card already in the system or a new card.

    • Terms of Service: You must agree to the Terms of Service to register a new domain. A link is provided with the Terms of Service.

Once you have put in all your information, click the "Submit" button. You have now registered your new domain!

    Hi KyoVision,

Thanks for posting your comment. You will need to login to AMP. Once you are logged in to AMP, on the left side menu pane you should see various links. Select the link that says "Domains"

From here you should be able to register a new domain. If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us.

    Thanks!

    WTF is this crap?

With Hostgator you can buy a domain from Godaddy, go to my cpanel add the domain, change the name server in Godaddy and you are good to go. WTF am I doing here? Why have I been struggling with this crap for 30 min. to the point where I have to call your support team and wait 20 min. for you to pick AND I am calling from outside the US so you know the bill will be high.

Not a good start.... so far I'd def. warn people to stay away from this service.

Godaddy is a ICANN Registrar, InMotion is a eNom reseller,

That's why you can register domains easily with GoDaddy,

    Hello,

While it is true we are a reseller, we are not an eNom reseller. Our registration process is tied into our registrar partner, Melbourne IT. They are one of the largest in the world and have other customers such as Yahoo. eNom is used for our reseller program. Our reseller's can choose to sell domains via eNom's reseller program.

    Hello NotHappyWithThisCrap,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are having. This guide is only if you want to "Registering a New Domain Name" with us, but this is not a requirement.

You can absolutely "buy a domain from Godaddy (or any registrar), go to (your) cpanel, add the domain, (and) change the name server in Godaddy and you are good to go."

Sorry to hear it was taking you so long to get through to support, while call volume fluctuates, right now there is less than a 1 minute wait.

You can also chat with our live support team, there is a link on top.

We are more than happy to help you, is there a specific question you have?

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below.
    Thank you,

Do you see the new domain within AMP? Are you sure that your email address on file for the account is the one that you are checking?

    Hello Erica,

Domain names are registered through a registrar and they are not immediately associated with the hosting server. However, if you registered the domain, then you can see it by going to your Account Management Panel (AMP).

In order to associate the new domain to your account's hosting server(if it is not your primary domain), then you will need to add it as an add-on domain.

If you are trying to change the domain name you used to register your account, then you will need to make a main domain change.

Apologies, if there has been some confusion over this process.

If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

    Regards,
    Arnel C.

    Hello Tina,

You would need to add a Builder license for the second domain. Each new Builder license costs $12. You can order it by contacting our live technical support team (contact info below). If you need any assistance with adding Builder, please see Adding Premium Web Builder.

    Hello Morris,

Thank you for your question. While we can host a .tv domain, InMotion Hosting can only register available .com, .net, .org, .us, .biz, or .info domains.

However, our Reseller accounts have access to the IMH Store.

The IMH Store allows you to register any top-level domain, including .tv.

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below.

    Thank you,
