How do I go about getting the FileInfo extension installed on our server? We upload files and I want to have a bit more control over which mime types are uploaded. The user who does the uploads isn't always great at picking the right pdf file or mp3 file.

Hello apostles,

Thank you for your question. On a server running PHP 5.3 or newer, PECL fileinfo is already installed.

If you are running PHP version 5.2 or older you can issue a shell command from PHP to use the "file" command.

You can view your PHP version in cPanel.

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below.
Thank you,

-John-Paul
