Why isn't my sub folder password protected?

In the protected subdir, I see the newly created passwd file, but no .htaccess file. When I access the subdir using my browser, I'm allowed to see the protected subdir. What's the problem here?

Hi harryw,

Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you. The problem was you did not check the box to password protect the directory. I checked the box, after clicking on the sub folder and assigned it a name. Once I saved the settings, the directory is now password protected.
