When downgrading, what happens to account credit remainder?

Hi there,
Wondering what happens if I downgrade an account (via 'Change Plan' in AMP) - The dropdown where you pick the package shows an amount of credit that the downgrade potentially gives.
After submitting, what happens to the remainder? Does it disappear? Is it added to your account for future purchases?
