i recently opened an inmotion account and created a new website. I need to transfer an old website here too. I will have two non-connected sites hosted at in motion so I need an add-on domain, right? In what order do I do these to move the old website: 1) add the domain name to inmotion? 2) change the DNS pointing? 3) Get an authorization code from the original hosting? 4) unlock the locked site at the original hosting (it has an administrator)?
thanks

Hello tempjoy,

I am happy to answer your questions today.

I will have two non-connected sites hosted at in motion so I need an add-on domain, right?
- yes, for your separate site, you will want to make it an addon domain via your cpanel.

In what order do I do these to move the old website:
- You have it almost perfect. I suggest the following order:
  1. add the domain name to inmotion

  2. change the DNS pointing

  3. Get an authorization code from the original hosting AND unlock the locked site at the original hosting

  4. Initiate transfer via your Account Management Panel (AMP)

That should get you all set and the domain name in process of moving over to us!

Best Regards,
Scott M
