I recently discovered this module:
http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=extension/extension/info&extension_id=268&filter_search=picasa&sort=e.date_modified&order=DESC

But seems like only the external images on Google picasa is allowed.
I have a photobucket album and would like to use that instead, but are there other modules ? I have also come across some modules where the images would be saved on my server but would not like that option as it defeats the purpose and slows down the website.

Thanks

Unfortunately, I was unable to find a solution like this for Photobucket. You may have some luck on the OpenCart forums or contacting the developer of that plugin to see if it would be possible to add that functionality.

It doesn't have to be for photobucket only. My question is are there any mods that allow the usage of external image URLs. It should be pretty common, but all the ones I have found will download the image on the server.

Hello Urusaiii,

I checked on the OpenCart module site and there are hundreds upon hundreds of modules for images. Off the top of my head I do not know which one will satisfy your requirements, but there is likely at least one that will do so. Also, do not be so quick to count out delivering images from your server. The only downside is that it uses a bit more bandwidth and takes a bit more maintenance, but you will have total control over the images and they will serve faster since they are local to the site. Plus, if you are serving from another location and something happens, then your images will not display and you are at the mercy of their support until they get it back up and running.

Kindest Regards,
Scott M

Hello Scott, thank you for the useful solution. Actually I did stumble upon a few, as they are not cheap, just wanted to know if someone can recommend one that can serve my purpose. Not very many serves my purpose actually. There's only 1 I found so far, I ended up trying it out but it messed up my page :-( see, that's why have to be careful...!
