Not Resolved - How to create a Logout button from secure folder

Best Answer not yet chosen
What script or whatever is required to force a logout from a secure folder from an index.htm within that folder.

I used the c-panel option, and can't see any option for this.

Thanks in advance

Ho yobl,

Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you today. When you password protect a directory there is no need to force a log out of the folder. You are not logged into the folder with a specific user, just a password. There's no need to "logout" once the connection to the folder is terminated, you will be re-prompted to login again the next time you try to access the folder.

If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us.

Thanks!

Hey Mike,

After more testing, I closed the browser down and when I visited my test folder, I was prompted for the password.

It's odd considering the first time I did it, it didn't do that. However, I have tested this multiple times and it seems to function correctly.

Basically, the browser should only store the username and password for that session. So everytime you close the browser it will prompt you. If you just visit the page without closing the browser, since it's not a new session - it will not prompt you to enter a password.

I hope this helps!

Thanks!

Hey Mike,

It doesn't seem like there's any information available on the subject. I have posted a question in the Google Chrome forums about it, in hopes someone from Google can shed some light on the subject for me.

As soon as I hear from them, I certainly pass on the information I have received.

Thanks again for your question!

Hi Tim

I use MS Publisher to put the site together. I have zero expertise in writing HTML or any other code.

Hope this helps

Thanks

Hi Mike,

Thanks for getting back to us. I have tested it and you are right, Google Chrome will not prompt you for a login for that directory. Now, the login and logout you see on websites are unrelated to password protecting directories. Depending on what your website is built with, determines how you'll go about setting up a login/ logout area for users.

There is no functionality provided to password protect directories and have the user specifically log out.

What is your website built with and I may be able to help you determine a solution for logging in and out?

If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us.

Thanks!
