Can I change my php version from 5.3 to 5.2 so I can get Webinstal Maillist to work?

"Webinsta Maillist is not compatible with PHP version 5.3+"
And if I do change from 5.3 to 5.2 will there be any problems with my current sites? Also, I've already instituted this change in cpanel, but the install still won't work and I get the same error message. Another post mentioned code in the .htaccess file that needed to be changed...

Can you help me get this to work? Thanks!

Hello Nancy, and thanks for your question

We do have a guide on using two different PHP versions on your server that explains how you can set your whole account to use PHP 5.3, but then a separate directory to fall back to PHP 5.2.

However when you're using Softaculous to install applications it's going to use the system's default PHP version which in this case would be 5.3. In order to get around this issue you could try to manually install the application, after you setup a sub-folder for it that utilizes PHP 5.2.

Also you might be interested in simply installing and using phpList instead which is another newsletter software that can run on PHP 5.3. I actually have written an entire phpList education channel that goes over all the aspects of phpList if you want to see if it might also fit your needs.
