It's important to note though that simply applying SEO techniques to your website does not guarantee high search engine placement. Most recently with the search engine updates that have been happening at Google, there is more and more emphasis on quality unique content.
So in order to get good rankings it would be a combination of having good content for the particular keywords you are trying to target, and then following proper SEO guidelines for ensuring that search engines can easily find that content.

SEO techniques involve the relevant content on your website and other best practices for placing high in search engines. Search Engine Optimization techniques vary depending on who you talk to, but in general Search Engines such as Google have made it a point to state that relevant up-to-date website content with the appropriate tagging (this is not dependent on hosting settings) is the best way to get high rankings within search.
