How do I delete the .htaccess file once I've extracted it?
Category: File Management
I am trying to migrate my wordpress site from one domain to another. Both are hosted by InMotion, but I'm receiving an error message when I try to upload content to my new site. I read online that I need to delete the .htaccess file once I've extracted it. How do I do this?

Hello Klg0147, What error message are you getting? Letting us know what you're seeing would help us troubleshoot the issue you're experiencing. You could also contact live support if you wish to keep information more private about your account. The .htaccess file can be deleted using the Cpanel File manager. Make sure that when you enter file manager that you are checking off SHOW HIDDEN files. The period in front of the file name indicates that the file is hidden. How to use File Manager NOTE: .htaccess will re-appear even after you have deleted it. It is a system default file. However, if you delete it, you will remove all saved entries in the file from its previous saved state. If you have any further questions, please contact technical support or leave a comment at the bottom of the page. Regards, Arnel C. |
