Is domain privacy worth it? Does it help with spam?

I just read about it in the April Newsletter. $9/year is not much, but want to know if it will appreciably cut down on spam or have other benefits. Thanks!

Hi Janny,

Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you today. That's a really hard question to answer since it depends how much spam you get to your Admin email on your domain. If you only use the email address for admin for the domain, and do not use it for other purposes, it could quite possibly cut down spam.

Keep in mind, it really depends on how the spammers have harvested your email address. If you have used it for various logins to other websites or posted it publicly it's likely your spam is due to that.

Really, Domain Privacy is a service we offer that masks your personal information. Keep in mind that the WHOIS information for a domain contains various information and with the right tool spammers can harvest emails quite easily.

Believe me, it is worth it. We received an official-looking billing from "DNS Services Inc." for $65.00 to renew our domain name or risk losing it. Good thing we checked because this is a sham company. Now we have Domain Privacy on all domains!
