Our company website is in Drupal 6. We would like to add blogging to the website. From what other companies have told us, WordPress is the way to go for blogging. So, can this be done within a Drupal 6 website?

Hello Spartan,

Thanks for the question! It seems like it should be an easy thing, but the main issue is that like WordPress, Drupal generates its URLs. This can possibly cause conflicts if you're trying to use same domain name. Check out this link from the Drupal Community: Installing WordPress in a subdirectory of Drupal.

You can always link out to it, but it would be best to make sure that the directory being used for the WordPress blog NOT be something that Drupal will generate (such as a folder named "blog"). I hope this helps to answer your question! Please let us know if you require further assistance.

The thing is, we want it to be mydomain.com/blog. Based on the link provided, it looks like it can be done by modifying the .htaccess file. Is there anything else that would need to be modified in order to get it to work?

Hello Spartan,

The information concerning the .htaccess file was the main thing you needed to know. I am not aware of anything else that you need to know in order to get the WordPress site to work when installed as a subdirectory in a Drupal install. Everything for the WordPress install should reference to that subdirectory, and as long as you keep Drupal from calling up the same URL, then it should be fine.

I hope this helps to further clarify the request. If you have any further comments or questions, please let us know.

Regards,
Arnel C.
