I'm looking to set up google apps with my domain but am struggling.

My domain is currently at 123reg.

I've set up the MX records there and have temporarily switch the nameservers to 123reg's so that this will work (i think that's right?) I'm presuming what I'm supposed to do is switch the nameservers back to inmotion after the MX records propagate in order to make this work.

Is this correct? Or will this not work? I'm not familiar with how this all works particularly and don't really know with confidence what I'm supposed to be doing.

If it were possible for me to change the domain name to inmotion I would do, but the extension (.me) isn't available as an option here.

Help MUCH appreciated. :)

Hi Skitrel,

I'm sorry you're having trouble setting up your domain to work with Google Apps. DNS can be confusing, but I hope I can clarify this a bit more. Wherever your domain is pointed to (Nameservers) controls your DNS records for that domain. So, if you pointed your domain back to 123reg, no MX records (or any other DNS records) entered here would have any effect. If you point your domain to our Nameservers, MX records (and any other DNS records) set up at 123reg would no longer work. We are happy to help you through the steps of setting this up properly for your domain.
<ol>
<li>Begin by <a href="http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/domain-names/dns-nameserver-changes">pointing your domain back to our Nameservers</a>:
<p>ns.inmotionhosting.com<br />
ns2.inmotionhosting.com</p></li>
<li>Change your domain's MX records to point to Google's servers. We have step-by-step instructions on this in our <a href="http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/cpanel/cpanel-email/modfying-mx-records">Modifying your MX records tutorial</a>.</li></ol>
Once DNS has propagated (usually 4-24 hours) your domain will be fully pointed back to our server and your new MX records will be propagated and working as well.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions or need further assistance.

Regards,

Christi N.
