What I would want is simple graphs, showing the most popular pages and post that can be given to a less sophisticated client.

Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you. I'd suggest using webalizer. Webalizer is located in the cPanel under the "logs" section. It provides the most basic data about visits and simple graphs. You can see the most popular pages of the site as well.
