Question Asked by mike m
How do I set up a temporary url for a new WHM account?
Best Answer not yet chosen
I want to start a new account in WHM not right under the main (not add-on or sub), that will use a new account's public_html, and will work with the WHM "create a new account" page successfully. I want to use a temp url for testing before pointing name servers, and it of course does not allow me to use the domain already in use on another host. If I use the temp url under my main account in AMP I believe it will use home/mainaccount/public_html. Help please.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you. When you create a new account within WHM and create a username, you will use this for the temp url. Let's say your on vps9111 and you create a new account with the username newwebsite. Then your temp url for that account would be: vps9111.inmotionhosting.com/~newwebsite.
I hope this helps! If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us.
Thanks!

Thanks.
Basically as the address I used the IP: 173.247.255.164 and then the username for cpanel for the account that I wanted to access, since I'm trying to access one of the new accounts I've created under my VPS server.
When you create an account within WHM, you are creating a cPanel account. The cPanel username and password you create are actually used as the FTP username and password.
To connect, you can use your server's IP address as the FTP host, and then the new cPanel username and password as the FTP credentials.
Thanks,
- Brad
